Important Role Details:
- Full-time AmeriCorp VISTA
- Benefits: This is an AmeriCorp VISTA position, which offers a $1,155.14 bi-weekly living stipend and other benefits offered through AmeriCorp VISTA. Subsidized housing onsite may be available.
- Duration: June 2026- May 2027
- Commitment: 35 to 40 hours per week. Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends for events.
Job Overview:
The AmeriCorp VISTA candidate will play a key role in the Education and Outreach department by helping to develop, optimize, document, and implement Education and Outreach programs and strategies to expand and support our mission. The VISTA candidate will work with the department to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our year-round education programs. They will improve data entry, and tracking systems, and research and assist in the development of curriculum and activities for the elementary-age programs. They will research educational platforms for both children and adult programs. Lastly, the VISTA candidate will develop efficient systems to keep accurate records for attendance, academic performance, and goal setting. The VISTA candidate will gain valuable experience in educational program planning and implementation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or relevant experience in education, communications, nonprofit management, or a related field.
- Strong technical skills.
- Experience or interest in education or a related field
- Ability to work independently, take initiative and collaborate with a team
- Comfortable working with digital tools including email, Google workspace and Microsoft Office.
- Adaptability and willingness to learn new skills.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for events.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Help develop, improve, and roll out education and outreach programs that support and grow our mission
- Work closely with staff to make year-round education programs more efficient and effective
- Improve and organize data entry systems to keep information accurate and easy to access
- Create fun, engaging curriculum and activities for elementary-age students
- Research and explore educational platforms and tools for both children and adult programs
- Develop simple, effective systems to track attendance, academic progress, and participant goals
- Gain hands-on experience in educational program planning, implementation, and evaluation
