ICON Environmental Services, Inc. was founded in 1994 by a team of senior environmental professionals with over 50 years of combined experience in the gulf coast and northeastern regions of the United States. ICON is actively seeking people for entry level geologist or environmental engineering positions. Ideal candidate would have some experience with field data collection including installation of monitoring wells, logging of soil, and soil and groundwater collection.
Job Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities will include groundwater and soil data/sample collection, data entry, and report preparation under direction of project manager.
- Manage field-based tasks of environmental investigations
- Communicate site activities with Project Manager
- Must be comfortable with overnight traveling (1-4 nights depending on project)
- Sampling of soil, groundwater, surface water, and sediment following State and Federal standards
- Assist with preparing tables, figures, drawings, reports, possibly specifications and other project documentation
This position does require travel and field work. Traveling may be up to 50-70% of your time which may require hotel stays. Candidates must be willing to work outside in all weather conditions and for extended periods.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor of Science (BS) in a Geology, Geosciences, Environmental Science, or Civil, Environmental, or related engineering discipline
- 0-3 years of experience in environmental consulting and or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in environmental consulting
- Familiarity with one or more of the following Agencies/Programs and firm understanding of the requirements thereof:
- Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ)
- Louisiana Department of Conservation & Energy (LDC&E)
- LDEQ Risk Evaluation Corrective Action Program
- LDNR Statewide Order 29B
- Proficiency at using Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- 40-Hour HAZWOPER training
