Commonwealth Animal Hospital is seeking an Experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our collaborative, progressive, and supportive team. As a Veterinary Assistant you'll play a vital role in patient care and work alongside experienced veterinarians to provide exceptional medical treatment.
Responsibilities include:

Assist with anesthesia, including calculations and patient monitoring

Intubate patients and support all anesthesia-related procedures
-
Place and monitor IV catheters
-
Prepare patients and surgical suites for procedures
-
Perform surgical nursing duties, including patient intake and discharge
-
Rotate between inpatient and outpatient care
-
Collaborate closely with veterinarians, who value technician input and communication
-
Deliver compassionate patient care while educating clients
Please Note: Candidates must be comfortable assisting with surgery. This position does not provide surgical mentorship, so prior surgical experience is required.

Nares and soft palate surgery

Strong anesthesia and surgical nursing experience

Comfortable calculating anesthesia and monitoring patients throughout procedures

A High School Diploma or equivalent.

Proficiency in fundamental veterinary skills ranging from laboratory and pharmacy to nursing and radiology is a strong asset.
