Kodak is looking for Coating Operators to join our team in Kodak’s Advanced Materials and Chemicals Division in Rochester, NY.
Operators work in a variety of roles, all of which are involved in manufacturing the highest-quality light-sensitive coated products in the world. Depending on qualifications and experience, operator candidates will be assigned a role in one of these three teams.
Coating: Operate large coating machines to produce PET film and apply light-sensitive layers, ensuring smooth operation and defect-free products.
Chemical: Prepare solvents, dyes, and emulsions using precise processes; handle large chemical volumes and follow Safety Data Sheets.
Quality: Inspect coated film for defects affecting performance and saleability; science background helpful.
As an operator, you will potentially:
- Work in both light and dark room conditions.
- Work 11-hour days or 12-hour rotating shifts.
- Work overnights and possibly weekends.
Required skills and experience for all operators:
- Must be a detail-orientated team player.
- Detail-oriented team player; works well with minimal supervision
- Flexible across roles; able to multitask and adapt within shifts
- Prioritizes work to meet business needs
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Willing to work overtime or adjust schedule as needed
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs
- Able to obtain forklift (PIT) license
- Physically able to walk, stand, and perform frequent manual tasks
- Maintain clean workspace and follow strict safety/quality standards
- Basic computer skills (navigation and data entry)
- Responsible for processes, inputs/outputs, and troubleshooting
- Participate in quality improvement efforts
- Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and maintenance staff.
Additional skills and experience preferred:
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of film photography.
- Understanding of thin-film coating processes.
- Strong problem solving, data analysis, and computer abilities (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Knowledge of Outlook, One-LIMS, Felix, and the SAP system.
