Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Sushi Chef to join our vibrant culinary team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting authentic sushi dishes that delight our guests and uphold the highest standards of food safety and quality. The ideal candidate is energetic, detail-oriented, and experienced in high-volume food production within a fine dining or restaurant setting.
Duties
- Prepare a variety of sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes following established recipes and presentation standards
- Ensure all food handling and preparation adhere to strict food safety sanitizing procedures and hygiene standards
- Operate kitchen equipment such as sushi knives, rice cookers, refrigeration units, and other necessary tools efficiently and safely
- Maintain consistency in taste, appearance, and portion sizes across all dishes served
- Assist in menu planning by suggesting new sushi creations and seasonal specials to enhance customer offerings
- Manage food production during peak hours to ensure timely service without compromising quality
- Uphold proper food safety management practices, including proper storage, labeling, and sanitation of all ingredients and utensils
Skills
- Extensive culinary experience with a focus on sushi preparation and Japanese cuisine techniques
- Strong knife skills with the ability to handle delicate fish and seafood efficiently
- Proven experience in high-volume food production environments such as restaurants or catering services
- Knowledge of food safety sanitizing procedures and food handling regulations
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and effectively under pressure
- Experience in menu planning, recipe adherence, and meal preparation for diverse customer preferences
- Familiarity with dietary department standards related to seafood handling and allergy awareness
- Excellent food service skills with a focus on presentation, quality control, and customer satisfaction
- Background in fine dining or restaurant experience preferred to ensure top-tier service standards
Weekends are required.
Pay: $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week
