Schedule: 2nd and 3rd shifts on a rotating 48/36-hour workweek
Your shift kicks off with a quick scan of open work orders and preventive maintenance tasks. A conveyor line signals a fault, and you’re on it—meter in hand, schematic on screen. You diagnose a 480V three‑phase motor issue, confirm it with your volt‑ohm meter and ammeter, and validate the fix on an oscilloscope. Minutes later, you’re tuning a pneumatic control valve and inspecting a positive displacement pump, then fabricating a small bracket on the lathe and finishing with a Heliarc® weld to get production back on track.
Along the way, an entry-level mechanic asks for help with a hydraulic leak and PLC input fault. You coach them through the troubleshooting steps, interpret the Allen‑Bradley ladder logic, and get the equipment safely running. Before shift end, you document findings in the work order system and line up short‑ and long‑term repairs to boost reliability.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and install pneumatic and hydraulic systems, control valves, and both centrifugal and positive displacement pumps
- Diagnose and repair AC/DC electrical systems; read and interpret electrical schematics
- Use test equipment including volt‑ohm meters, ammeters, and oscilloscopes
- Leverage strong understanding of 480V three‑phase wiring and high‑voltage systems
- Work across electrical and mechanical disciplines to resolve complex issues
- Operate lathes, mills, arc and Heliarc® welders for repair and fabrication
- Respond urgently to maintenance calls and complete in‑progress repairs when needed
- Inspect machines, build repair lists, and identify immediate and long‑range corrective actions
- Mentor entry‑level mechanics through difficult diagnostics and repairs
- Contribute to preventative maintenance and work order tracking systems
- Proficient in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair
- Hands‑on experience with 120/208/240/480V systems
- Comfortable with relay testing and industrial electrical systems
- Skilled in pneumatics troubleshooting and mechanical component repair
- Capable PLC user (Allen‑Bradley) with conveyor systems exposure
