Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide utility coordination services for multiple transportation projects with demanding design and construction schedules
- Identify and document existing utility facilities through review of plans, utility records, field information, and coordination with utility owners
- Serve as liaison between project designers, utility agencies, municipalities, contractors, and clients
- Read and interpret roadway, drainage, traffic, structures, and utility plans
- Prepare Utility Work by Highway Contractor Agreement (UWHCA) packages and supporting documentation
- Conduct utility coordination meetings and prepare meeting agendas, minutes, and follow-up documentation
- Track action items and coordinate follow-up activities to ensure timely resolution of utility conflicts
- Lead and assist with contingency plans for unforeseen utility conflicts and relocation issues
- Provide schedule oversight for utility work integrated with construction schedules
- Train, mentor, and provide guidance to junior staff
- Support proposal efforts and client presentations
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years’ experience in Utility Coordination with the DOT.
- Familiarity with FDOT, FHWA, AASHTO standards, policies, procedures, and design criteria
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to coordinate effectively with FDOT staff, design engineers, and construction managers
- Ability to maintain functional working relationships with utility owners and their contractors; exercise judgment; and facilitate appropriate solutions to issues that arise
- Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to prioritize projects and tasks to ensure schedule deadlines are met
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Ability to work seamlessly with the project team at all levels
