Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment in accordance with dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management policies.
- Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry by providing chairside support and managing dental instruments efficiently.
- Take and develop dental x-rays using advanced medical imaging technology such as 3D scanners and dental x-ray machines, ensuring proper technique and patient comfort.
- Manage patient records accurately within electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Denticon, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for clinical confidentiality policies.
- Monitor vital signs and assess patient comfort before, during, and after procedures to ensure optimal patient care.
- Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care instructions, and answer questions related to dental terminology or procedures.
- Support administrative tasks including scheduling appointments with patient management software, answering phone calls as a dental receptionist, and maintaining organized medical documentation.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of dental terminology, equipment, and clinical procedures.
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Denticon; familiarity with patient management software is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of infection control protocols including aseptic technique and healthcare infection prevention and control expertise.
- Ability to perform dental x-ray procedures safely while adhering to radiation safety standards.
- Knowledge of anatomy relevant to dentistry along with medical terminology for accurate documentation.
- Certification or training in dental assisting, chairside assisting, or related fields is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide compassionate patient care in a fast-paced setting.
