Volunteer & Prevention Coordinator
This position could be partially funded by contracts and is subject to annual renewal.
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
The Volunteer and Prevention Coordinator will primarily focus on the volunteer recruitment, retention and recognition, and prevention activities while promoting the Women’s Center’s mission and programs. This role includes a subset of prevention-focused duties to support the Prevention Education Program. The assistant will report to the Director of Volunteer Management & Strategic Initiatives and collaborate with the HR as needed.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

The remaining Essential Responsibilities are specific to job function:
Volunteer Recruitment Management
- Assisting with the recruitment process of all Women’s Center volunteer positions to include:
- Screening volunteer applications
- Coordinating the monthly volunteer orientation to include recruiting and inviting attendees.
- Follow up with potential volunteers via interviews, phone calls, or email.
- Screen volunteers for appropriate placement.
- Assisting with the Onboarding Process for various volunteer roles
- Tracking and completing screening checklists
- Collaborate with the HR to ensure volunteers complete fingerprints and pass background checks.
- Issue Women’s Center Victim Services badges for volunteers.
- Create and maintain volunteer files, including status, contact information, and signed confidentiality forms, securely stored in the volunteer management system.
- Volunteer Retention: Assisting with volunteer recognition initiatives, including annual recognition events, holiday parties, in-house meetings, and sending birthday cards.
- Coordinate and track student service and community service-probation hours.
- Update orientation and training manuals (with the assistance of Director of Volunteer Management and Strategic Initiatives).
- Maintain a volunteer directory for distribution.
Prevention Education Program Support:
- Educate the community on issues important to women and promote the Women’s Center’s goals, programs, and services.
- Assist in coordinating activities and volunteers for the Prevention Education Program, focusing on Power-Based Personal Violence topics.
- Support the development and distribution of prevention materials in collaboration with community partners.
- Coordinate prevention volunteers to present prevention presentations.
- Ensure outreach and prevention activities are entered into the Osnium tracking system monthly.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Participate in Women’s Center events, fundraisers, and teams (e.g., Tiger Team, Outreach, Policy and Procedure review) as needed.
- Complete tasks assigned by the Director of Volunteer Management and Strategic Initiatives.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Physical demands include sitting or standing for extended periods of time, bending, lifting and moving materials for event set up, and regular use of standard office equipment such as the telephone, copier, fax, and computer. Demands also involve activities that require hours of energetic interaction.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Strong public speaking skills
- Understanding of power-based personal violence and its effects on individuals, communities and society
- Ability to connect with people of all ages, especially 4th grade through high school and college-aged individuals
- Ability to create, implement, deliver, and measure the success of various prevention-based programs
- Team oriented
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Ability to utilize basic software such as Excel, Adobe, PowerPoint, Word and Canva.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, public administration, or related field, preferred
- Minimum two years of experience in nonprofit industry (experience working with domestic violence and sexual assault organizations preferred)
- Minimum one year of experience and comfort level with with public speaking and giving presentations regularly
- Must complete One Love certification
- Valid Florida Driver’s license with good driving history
- Ability to pass a level II background screening
- Successful completion of Advocacy Core Training (ACT) within one month of hire
- Must participate in ongoing on-the-job training as assigned
