Gallery Associate (Part-Time)
Location: Savage Godfrey Gallery - Norwell, MA
Schedule: Approximately 8-12 hours per week with opportunity for additional hours
based on exhibitions, gallery events, installations, and special projects.

Savage Godfrey is a contemporary art gallery dedicated to connecting collectors with
original artwork while championing emerging and established artists. We believe art tells

Position Overview
We're seeking a personable, creative, and dependable Gallery Associate to support
the day-to-day operations of our Norwell gallery. This role is ideal for someone who
enjoys engaging with people, has an appreciation for art and design, and is looking to
grow alongside a small, entrepreneurial business.
The ideal candidate is equally comfortable welcoming visitors into the gallery, creating
social media content, photographing artwork, assisting with exhibitions, and helping tell
the stories behind the artists and their work.
While the role begins primarily in our Norwell gallery, there is opportunity for increased
responsibility over time through marketing initiatives, artist relations, consulting projects,
and gallery growth.
Responsibilities
- Welcome gallery visitors and provide an exceptional customer experience
- Learn about represented artists and confidently share the stories behind their work
- Photograph artwork and gallery installations for marketing and social media
- Assist with social media planning, content creation, and scheduling
- Draft email newsletters, exhibition announcements, and social media copy
- Assist with exhibition installations, receptions, and gallery events
- Help coordinate press releases and promotional materials for exhibitions
- Maintain gallery appearance and organization
- Support website updates and gallery marketing efforts
- Assist with administrative and operational projects as needed
- Promoting the gallery to the local design community (and alike industry
- professionals)
Qualifications
We're looking for someone who is:
- Personable and confident interacting with customers
- Reliable with excellent time management and communication skills
- Passionate about art, design, photography, or creative industries
- Curious and excited to learn about artists and contemporary artwork
- Active or interested in becoming involved in the South Shore arts community
- Creative, organized, and proactive
- Comfortable working independently while also collaborating on projects
Preferred Experience
- Bachelor's degree or comparable education or experience
- Background in art, photography, design, communications, marketing, or a related creative field
- Experience with customer service or sales
- Familiarity with Instagram, Canva, Squarespace, and basic marketing tools
- Photography experience, particularly photographing artwork or interiors
- Strong writing skills for email marketing, social media, and press releases
Growth Opportunity
This position offers the opportunity to grow alongside the gallery. As the role develops,
additional responsibilities may include:
- Introducing and researching new artists
- Supporting consulting and creative projects
- Assisting with gallery partnerships and collaborations
- Taking ownership of exhibition marketing
- Increased gallery leadership responsibilities
- Build relationships with collectors and help guide artwork conversations
- Promoting the gallery to the local design community (and alike industry professionals)
Compensation
- Part-time hourly position
- Approximately 8-12 hours per week to start, with additional hours available
- during exhibitions, installations, receptions, and special projects
- Starting hourly rate: $23-25 per hour, depending on experience
- Sales commission opportunity available after the first 90 days based on artwork sold through the gallery (related to growth opportunity section)
