THE POSITION
As a Maintenance Repairman with the Department of Transportation, you will play an important part in supporting winter readiness. You will help care for facilities, assist with simple repairs, and keep work areas safe for staff and visitors. Your efforts will help crews focus on their essential winter duties. This role offers meaningful hands-on experience in a steady and supportive environment.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supports PennDOT facilities by completing cleaning tasks, assisting with minor repairs, and helping maintain safe outdoor areas. The role also contributes to winter readiness by keeping entrances and walkways clear. As a Maintenance Repairman 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Cleaning Tasks: Wash floors, polish surfaces, and maintain lavatories and supplies
- Snow Removal: Shovel snow and clean walkways to keep outdoor areas safe
- Basic Repairs: Replace bulbs, make simple equipment repairs, or report repair needs
- Material Handling: Move furniture, deliver supplies, and assist with errands
- Record Accuracy: Record time charges and equipment usage correctly
- Safety Awareness: Follow safety practices and identify hazards in the work area

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Seasonal full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Work shifts and days are subject to change due to weather/season
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience in general maintenance work which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
