Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and developmental needs across subjects such as literacy, math, science, social studies, and physical education.
- Foster a positive classroom environment through effective classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies that promote respect and cooperation.
- Utilize educational technology tools and learning technology platforms to enhance instruction and student engagement.
- Monitor student progress regularly through assessments, standardized testing data analysis, and ongoing formative evaluations to tailor instruction accordingly.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, curriculum implementation strategies, and sharing best practices in early childhood education.
- Maintain clear communication channels with parents through regular updates on student performance, behavior, and developmental milestones via parent-teacher conferences and written reports.
- Support students with special needs by integrating special education strategies, working with specialists when necessary, and adapting lessons for children with autism or other learning differences.
- Engage in professional development opportunities related to childhood development, Montessori methods, educational compliance, or other relevant areas to continuously improve teaching practices.
Experience
- Proven classroom experience in elementary school teaching or early childhood education settings with a focus on first grade or similar age groups.
- Demonstrated ability to develop engaging curricula that incorporate differentiated instruction and accommodate various learning styles.
- Experience working with children with diverse needs including those requiring early intervention or special education services.
- Strong background in behavior management techniques and classroom management strategies that foster a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Familiarity with educational technology integration, learning data analysis, and standardized testing procedures.
- Prior experience mentoring or collaborating with fellow teachers to enhance instructional quality and student outcomes.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles, literacy education best practices including proofreading skills for student work, and the use of library services for enriching lessons.
