American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position in Monroe, NC, requiring at least 18 months of PCU experience and the ability to float across a multi-facility regional network.

Patient population includes stroke, heart failure, chest pain, COPD, cardiac cath pre/post care, ETOH/CIWA, IVDA, respiratory illness, GI disorders, liver failure, and AKI/CKD

RN-to-patient ratio of 1:3–4; CNA support at 1:5–6

Specialized skills required: critical care drip management (Insulin, Nitroglycerin, Cardene, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, Heparin, blood products), cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, chest tube management, NGT/Dobhoff/PEG tube placement, drain management, PCA pumps, and PIV starts

Nurses are responsible for reading and responding to telemetry monitors — no dedicated monitoring tech

EMR: Epic (experience required); IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Philips

12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 36 hours per week

Every-other-weekend rotation required

Floating required across Region 2 facilities: Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, and the Central Division (CMC Main, CMC Mercy, and Levine Children's Hospital), within scope of practice

No on-call requirements for travelers

Active NC or compact RN license required
-
Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required

Minimum 18 months of PCU RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
-
Epic EMR experience required
-
Proficiency with critical care drip management and general PCU skill set required

Candidate's permanent address must be located more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted

Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Minimum of one professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Orientation includes NEO followed by 2 days of departmental training

Department support includes CNAs, a receptionist/HUC, a 24/7 charge nurse, phlebotomy (peripheral draws only), an IV/VAT team, respiratory therapy 24/7, hospitalist 24/7, intensivist 24/7 (virtual after hours), and virtual nurses 24/7

Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays

RTO requests require Resource Team approval

Candidates must be willing to float to all Region 2 facilities as needed — please decline if not agreeable to this requirement

Travel time between facilities when floating mid-shift is compensated

Scrubs: navy blue required
