Job Summary:
Maguire Automotive Group is a multi-franchise automotive dealership located in Central and Western NY. The Corporate Controller reports directly to the CFO and will oversee the Corporate Accounting department for the company. Key responsibilities of management of all corporate functions including, but not limited to, oversight of the general ledgers, daily cash management, A/P, A/R. and project management. Additional responsibilities include working with all levels of management to provide sales and expense analysis supporting opportunities for improved profitability in all areas.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties as assigned)

Supervise daily activities of corporate accounting team to include General Ledger accounting, A/P, A/R, Floor Plan review, and other accounting tasks.

Interprets the financial statement and the daily operating control (DOC) regularly and informs CFO of developing trends.

Works with Controllers to audit financial statements monthly according to dealership guidelines and within each manufacturer's format and time frame. Ensures that all manufacturer accounts are current and accurate.

Maintains a working relationship with all platform personnel to maintain accurate financial reporting

Participates in the preparation of short- and long-term financial forecasts for the dealership.

Provides department managers with detailed financial and management reports.

Maintains an effective cash management system to handle daily cash needs, forecast cash funds and make recommendations for the profitable use of excess cash.

Directs assessment of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets.

Reviews the general ledger and scheduled accounts. Notes any unusual entries and investigates.

Stays abreast of tax code revisions and advises CFO regarding any operational adjustments needed to accommodate revisions.

Ensures compliance with all applicable government finance regulations, including filing and/or maintaining of required forms, payroll taxes and deposits, income taxes, sales and use taxes, retirement plan records etc.

Coordinates annual audit (or review).

Work with Controllers to ensure that all office personnel are using proper accounting procedures and maintaining accurate records and analyses and supervises the preparation of all information for the CPA to minimize audit or review costs.

Continually strives to improve data integrity and information reporting throughout the dealership.

Assimilates necessary documents for procurement projects as needed.

Attends meetings as needed.

Cross-trains others for this position as directed by management
Required Experience and Education:
-
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or five years related experience as a Controller or equivalent position.

MBA/CPA preferred but will consider right candidate without, provided they meet other degree/experience qualifications.
Physical and Mental Requirements:

Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, use hands to point, grasp, handle or feel, push, pull, reach, crouch, bend, kneel, climb, and perform repetitive motions of the hands and/or wrists.

Mental and visual attention required to perform work dealing primarily with preparing and analyzing data and figures, using a computer terminal, and reading.
Physical Exertion:

Must be able to use 10 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

Light exertion can involve sitting, walking and/or standing most of the time.
Environmental Conditions:

Work is performed in an office setting and on location.

Occasional weekend and evening hours maybe required.
