Cornerstone Staffing Solutions is currently seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Accounts Payable Specialist for a temp-to-hire opportunity in Johnson City, TN. We are looking for an organized professional with strong accounting and administrative skills who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can maintain accuracy while handling multiple priorities.
Position Summary
The Accounts Payable Specialist will be responsible for processing invoices, maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring timely vendor payments, and supporting daily accounting operations. This role requires strong attention to detail, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and prior Accounts Payable experience.
Responsibilities
- Process accounts payable invoices and obtain required supporting documentation for assigned accounts and companies
- Verify vendor invoice accuracy and match invoices with purchase orders and receiving documentation
- Enter and post invoices into the accounting system in a timely and accurate manner
- Ensure invoices are coded properly to General Ledger expense accounts
- Maintain accurate vendor records and payment due dates
- Issue vendor payments as directed while ensuring available discounts are taken and payments are processed accurately and on time
- Obtain and maintain vendor EIN, SSN, W-9, and W-8 documentation
- Prepare and process year-end 1099 reporting in compliance with IRS deadlines
- Maintain organized filing and record retention procedures for audit purposes
- Cross-train team members on Accounts Payable functions and reporting duties
- Assist CFO/Controller and support additional accounting functions as needed
- Complete miscellaneous duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Previous Accounts Payable experience required
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word skills
- Experience working within ERP systems
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Additional accounting/finance or related degree and/or experience is a plus
