Summary of Position
Supervises the activities and functions of the SMILE Program which is part of the African American Health Program (AAHP) of Montgomery County, MD. Responsible for supervision and coordination of Nurse Case Managers within the program. Assumes responsibility, authority, and accountability and quality assurance for services to SMILE clients. Provides some direct services to prenatal, post-partum and new born clients
Essential Functions of Position
- Plan, organize, coordinate, and supervise the functions and activities to ensure that SMILE Program services are provided in accordance with the established AAHP’s and Montgomery County DHHS’ standards, regulatory and legal requirements.
- Develops, reviews, revises, submits, and implements policies, procedures, goals, and objectives for the program. Ensures that policies and procedures are current and updated yearly. Assure compliance with established standards and regulatory requirements.
- Ensures that caseloads are equitably distributed to nurse case managers. Monitors, evaluates, and modifies caseloads as needed to achieve operational efficiency. Collaborates with the Clinical Director to evaluate work schedules as needed to ensure adequate coverage for required tasks.
- Analyzes and evaluates nursing and related services to improve quality of client services and utilization of staff time. Monitors productivity of the program.
- Establishes and maintains a climate in which personnel can attain their maximum potential in performance.
- Monitors, implements, and participates in continuous quality improvement processes regarding topics pertinent to the program.
- Abides by all HIPPA regulations and maintains confidentiality according to AAHP and DHHS policy. Ensures accurate maintenance of patients’ medical records.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BA or BSN preferred.
- Current Registration and Licensure in the State of Maryland as a Nurse.
- Must be in good standing with the Board of Nursing
- Minimum 5 years OB and Pediatrics experience.
- Prior supervisory or management experience.
- Completion and maintenance of (Basic Cardiac Life Support) BCLS certification.
- Dependent Adult Abuse training.
- Home Care experience.
- Mandatory reporter training for child abuse.
- High degree of empathetic listening, tact, and kindness towards others.
- Ability to communicate well verbally.
- Must work effectively as a team member.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Technical and Critical Thinking Skills in relation to sound nursing judgment.
- Excellent communication skills.
Physical Demand
This position requires the ability to drive across the County and move about the facility in the care of clients and moving of supplies/equipment. Must be able to bend to the floor and reach overhead, balance, climb, lift, push, pull, walk, stand and crouch, twist and turn while obtaining equipment and supplies. Verbal and auditory acuity sufficient for over the telephone consultation of clients, reporting of clients’ condition and hearing clients’ verbal requests.
