Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced dispatcher to join our transportation team. The ideal candidate will coordinate fleet operations, manage driver schedules, and ensure timely delivery of freight during evening hours. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining efficient operations and customer satisfaction.
Schedule
- Full-time, 40 hours per week
- Includes some weekends and holiday on call duties
Duties
- Monitor and coordinate fleet movements using transportation management software
- Assign loads to drivers based on availability, hours of service, and delivery requirements
- Maintain constant communication with drivers regarding route updates, delays, and schedule changes
- Problem-solve unexpected situations such as breakdowns, delays, or weather-related issues
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and hours of service requirements
- Track driver locations and update delivery status in real-time
- Coordinate with customers regarding pickup and delivery schedules
- Maintain accurate documentation of all dispatching activities
- Handle driver concerns and escalate issues when necessary
- Process drivers pay sheets
- Prepare customer BOL’s for billing
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree preferred
- Minimum 1 year of experience in transportation industry
- Proficiency with transportation management software and MS Office
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and make quick decisions under pressure
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs)
- Previous experience in customer service
- Ability to sit for extended periods
- Capable of viewing computer screens for long durations
- May occasionally need to lift up to 20 pounds
