Professional Buyer, must be an experienced buyer purchasing raw material and finished goods inventory for retail/wholesale distribution. Knowledgeable on all facets of the Procurement Cycle including but not limited to ABC analysis, lead times, sourcing, Safety Stock, Quoting and Costing, Negotiations.
Plans, coordinates, and executes the ordering and distribution of products, parts, and accessories. As assigned by Supervisor Ensures adequate levels of inventory are on hand to obtain sales potentials consistent with good inventory control practices and/or customer needs. Provides management with information to facilitate the coordination of material and inventory requirements. Collects information on present and future inventory needs. Evaluates and recommends receiving and shipping deadlines, and takes corrective action to expedite and eliminate behind schedule conditions. Analyzes slow-moving, surplus inventories and recommends appropriate action. Identifies raw material, component and related requirements from customer specifications and production specifications and schedules. In front-end procurement mode, analyzes data and determines factors that affect prices and determines lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules. Reviews proposals, negotiates prices, selects or recommends suppliers, analyzes trends, follows up orders placed, verifies delivery, approves payment, and maintains necessary records of material movement throughout assembly, production, and inventory cycle(s). Coordinates and follows up with assembly, production, warehouse, and sales personnel to ensure appropriate procurement, scheduling and movement of materials and services. May purchase machinery, equipment, tools, raw material, packaging materials, parts, services, and supplies necessary for operation of the organization. Compiles and analyzes statistical data to determine feasibility of buying products and to establish price objectives. Compiles information from periodicals, catalogs, and other sources to keep informed on price trends and manufacturing processes. Confers with vendors and analyzes vendors operations to determine factors that affect prices and determines lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules. Must be proficient in Procurement Modeling techniques including ABC analysis, Reorder Reports, Economic Order Quantities, Just in Time Inventory. Must have analytical ability to determine cost verses sell in order to maximize profitability
Associate's Degree (two year college or technical school) Required, Field of Study: Business Bachelor's Degree (four year college or technical school) Preferred, Field of Study: Business
Must have above average MS EXCEL skills with prior experience in ERP and MRP. WMS experience is a plus Specific job requirements as they relate to the Company"s Inventory System including the ability to review various inventory reports, ability to process and receive a purchase order, ability to query and review Reorder Report, Lost Business Report, Expediting Report and Back Order Report.
