Job Overview
We are seeking a Senior Structural Designer to lead the development and coordination of structural design deliverables for industrial, manufacturing, and advanced facilities projects. This role requires extensive experience in structural modeling, drafting, design coordination, and multidisciplinary collaboration. The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership, support junior team members, and ensure high-quality project deliverables from concept through construction.
Duties
- Plan and execute structural design work requiring independent judgment, creativity, and coordination.
- Develop structural layouts, models, drawings, and construction documents for all phases of project execution.
- Prepare plans, elevations, sections, schedules, details, and other design deliverables to support engineering and project teams.
- Participate in project planning, design reviews, and technical discussions while proposing practical design solutions.
- Coordinate structural designs with architectural, mechanical, electrical, process, and other disciplines.
- Identify, evaluate, and resolve design conflicts, constructability concerns, and field coordination issues.
- Conduct field surveys and verify existing site conditions.
- Review project specifications and ensure designs comply with project requirements, codes, and industry standards.
- Review and process vendor submittals, RFIs, and other project documentation.
- Participate in internal and external design status meetings and provide updates for assigned areas of responsibility.
- Develop labor estimates and provide task-level hour projections for assigned work.
- Support project scheduling, scope management, and budget awareness throughout project execution.
- Serve as an Area Lead or System Lead Designer on assigned projects.
- Mentor junior designers and provide technical guidance to project team members.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting, Design, or related field, or equivalent industry experience.
- Significant experience in structural design, modeling, and drafting.
- Advanced proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD.
- Extensive experience utilizing Navisworks and Bluebeam for model reviews and design coordination.
- Strong understanding of structural design principles, construction documents, and industry best practices.
- Working knowledge of applicable building codes and design standards.
- Experience coordinating across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Ability to independently identify and solve technical design challenges.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting industrial, manufacturing, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or advanced facilities projects.
- Experience serving as Lead Designer, Area Lead, or System Lead.
- Familiarity with BIM execution planning and multidisciplinary model coordination.
- Experience supporting construction administration and field activities.
