JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
The Planner / Scheduler is responsible for overseeing the Creating, Planning and Dispatching of short-cycle and long-cycle work activities within the Construction & Maintenance Department. The Planner / Scheduler works with leadership in these workgroups to ensure that work is performed efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory standards.
ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Creates short-cycle work orders in WACS
- Screen and consolidate work orders in WACS & OFS
- Manage any exceptions associated with WACS or OFS
- Manage physical work packages between Engineering & Construction & Maintenance.
- Coordinates with other groups, Engineering, Storeroom, OC’s., Records, Service, Schedulers, Corporate Communications.
- Maintain and updates scheduled work, resolves time constraint conflicts, identifies variances, develops explanations to schedule changes, sends reminders as needed, submits & monitors one call tickets.
- Coordinates & leads weekly scheduling meetings with local management personnel. Adjust schedules and work plans as necessary based on feedback.
- Coordinates with local network leadership to ensure proper material & equipment availability as needed. If material or equipment is unavailable or will impact project completion adjust schedule accordingly & communicate with necessary parties.
- Meet with Corporate Communications to discuss upcoming work in high profile areas.
- Comply with Company and industry standards and regulations.
- Monitor field employee productivity and keep local supervision informed of potential issues.
- Support storm and emergency response efforts as needed, including after-hours availability.
- Ensures training requirements, compliance and needs are current and satisfied.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education required of the position
- Associate’s degree. In lieu of a degree, having 2+ years of experience in utility operations, work management, or field services is required.
- Planner/Scheduler I -: 2-4 years of experience
- Planner / Scheduler II: 4 – 6 years of experience

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities preferred of the position
- Proficiency in work management systems (e.g., Oracle CCS, WACS and OFS) (Maximo, Click, SAP CCS and Service Suite), Microsoft Office Suite, and GIS tools.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and deliverables. Ability to work with multiple levels of the organizational structure. Excellent organizational and analytical skills. Experienced/training in planning and scheduling activities. Strong knowledge of and expertise with computer technology. Strong decision-making skills. Ability to adapt to changing priorities. Ability to work well under pressure. Initiative-taking and dependable collaborator.
Physical Requirements
- Able to operate a personal computer, either desktop or laptop.
- Able to sit for extended periods of time.
- Able to operate a copy machine, fax machine, calculator, telephone, and other miscellaneous office equipment.
Able to exert up to 10 Lbs. of force occasionally, and /or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, or otherwise move objects.

- Able to be included in random drug screen pool required for DOT drivers and DOT safety sensitive positions.
- May be required to remain in the service area during emergency events and assume responsibilities assigned by the company to aide in restoration efforts.
