Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental practice. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care while assisting the dentist in various procedures. This position requires a strong understanding of dental practices, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, ensuring all necessary instruments and materials are prepared and available.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as needed.
- Record and update patient information, including medical history and vital signs, in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dental operatory, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and ready for use.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions.
- Manage appointment scheduling and patient flow within the office, including acting as a dental receptionist when required.
- Utilize dental systems effectively, including experience with Epic for patient management.
- Assist in pediatric dentistry procedures, demonstrating patience and understanding with young patients.
- Support the dentist with 3D scanning technology when applicable, enhancing treatment planning and patient outcomes.
Experience
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Previous experience in dental assisting or a related field is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
- Knowledge of medical coding practices is a plus but not mandatory.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure compliance with safety protocols and patient care standards.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated to manage individual tasks efficiently.
