Event Manager for Christmas Light Show
Job Type: Seasonal, Full-time
Work Location: In person
About Us
Christmas in Color, by Wonder Entertainment, is a drive-thru Christmas light show featuring millions of synchronized lights, tunnels, displays, music, and other holiday attractions.
We’re looking for an Event Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day operation of one of our Christmas in Color locations during the season.
This is a hands-on leadership position. We are looking for someone who can lead a team, solve problems, stay organized, and make sure the event is ready to open and runs smoothly each night.
You will not be expected to know everything on day one. Training, operating procedures, schedules, and guidance will be provided.
What You’ll Do
Think of this role as being responsible for making sure the entire show is ready for guests, properly staffed, organized, and operating smoothly every night.
You will:
- Lead and manage the onsite event team
- Prepare the site for opening each day
- Assign staff to ticket scanning, traffic, guest assistance, Party Packs, and other event positions
- Lead short pre-shift meetings and communicate the plan for the night
- Make sure employees are in position and completing their assigned responsibilities
- Monitor traffic flow and adjust staffing as needed
- Help resolve guest questions and problems
- Make decisions when unexpected situations come up during the event
- Make sure ticket scanning equipment, radios, supplies, and event materials are ready for use
- Keep the front-of-house and guest areas clean, organized, and presentable
- Monitor the show throughout the night and communicate lighting or technical issues to the appropriate team
- Coordinate with the build and technical teams when maintenance or repairs are needed
- Help manage weather-related or operational issues
- Complete nightly reports, inventory checks, and other required documentation
- Make sure closing procedures are completed and the site is properly secured at the end of the night
- Coach employees and address attendance, performance, or conduct issues when necessary
- Keep leadership informed of important problems, changes, or needs at the site
What We’re Looking For
You should be:
- Comfortable leading and managing a team
- A strong communicator who can give clear directions
- Organized and able to keep track of multiple things happening at once
- A strong problem solver who can make decisions without needing constant supervision
- Comfortable working directly with guests and handling difficult situations professionally
- Able to recognize when something needs immediate attention and when something can wait
- Comfortable learning and following established operating procedures
- Reliable and able to consistently arrive on time and prepared
- Comfortable working outdoors in winter conditions
- Comfortable being on your feet and moving around the event for long periods
- Flexible when schedules or operational needs occasionally change
- Willing to step in and help your team when needed
Experience in events, attractions, hospitality, retail management, restaurants, operations, entertainment, customer service, or team leadership is helpful, but specific Christmas light show experience is not required.
What We Provide
- Training and guidance on our event operations
- Opening and closing procedures
- Staffing plans and operating instructions
- Ticketing and guest-service training
- Support from our operations, build, and technical teams
- Tools, equipment, radios, and supplies needed to operate the event
- Hands-on experience managing a large seasonal entertainment production
We’re looking for someone who can take ownership of a site, lead a team, solve problems, and make sure guests have a great experience every night.
