- The Hospitality Coordinator assists our staff, retreatants and retreat directors while the retreat is in progress. This person provides support for liturgical activities, maintain chapels, assists before and during Mass and other events and serves as host for groups on retreat. This position is Tuesday - Friday and includes Saturday hours are flexed based on organizational need. Flexibility to start workday/s earlier or later based on the needs of the organization.
- We also have 2 part-time positions, first position is for M-Th 5 pm - 9 pm, the second is for Friday - Sunday, hours are based on retreat needs but begin at 4pm on Friday. Salary varies from full time position.
- Basic knowledge of traditional liturgical practices of the Catholic Church is important.
Job Objectives:
- Provide direct support for all liturgical activities.
- Maintain chapels, oratories and all liturgical vessels, linens in an acceptable manner. Cleaning altar linens and vestments.
- Serve as the Malvern host for assigned groups providing hospitality services as directed.
- Notifies appropriate person on-call if a maintenance issue is presented (i.e., leak, flood, electric, bathrooms need attention).
- Responsible for setting-up Adoration in main chapels and/or oratories.
- Responsible for setting up chapels for Masses and move tables/chairs in rooms for meetings and events. (must be able to lift up to 50 pounds)
- Assist with registration process as needed.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to prioritize, plan, schedule and coordinate with team members.
Experience
One to two years experience as a Hospitality Coordinator/Sacristan or equivalent experience preferred.
Special Knowledge/Skills
- Working understanding of traditional liturgical practices of the Catholic Church.
- Demonstrated customer service skills.
- Clear and concise communication skills (written and oral)
Additional Skills/Requirements
- Ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks, manage interruptions, and situational problem-solving is essential.
- Verbal communications using the English language.
- Position requires long periods of standing and ability to move around property
- Ability to pick up and carry up to 50 pounds, including chairs, tables etc for meeting set ups.
- Knowledge of video and sound equipment, copier and phone equipment to be utilized.
- Knowledge of Microsoft products including outlook and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of Zoom software.
- Current Driver's License
Must pass background and child abuse checks.
