Overview
Join our dynamic construction team as a Project Superintendent and take the lead in managing government and commercial construction renovation projects from start to finish. In this vital role, you will oversee daily operations on-site, coordinate with subcontractors and vendors, ensure safety compliance, and drive project milestones to successful completion. Your expertise will help deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget, fostering a collaborative environment that emphasizes safety, efficiency, and excellence. This position offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your leadership skills and technical knowledge in a fast-paced construction setting. Most projects are in the Richmond area in the government sector: VCU, Hanover County, Goochland, Fort Lee. This is a part-time job and hours can range from 0-40 per week depending on amount of work on hand. Projects will be small to medium, all under $1M. There is no guarantee of hours to be worked.
Responsibilities
- Supervise all on-site construction activities, ensuring adherence to project plans, schedules, and safety protocols.
- Coordinate daily work activities with subcontractors, suppliers, and project managers to maintain seamless workflow.
- Monitor project progress using construction management software programs ProCore and e-Builder, adjusting schedules as needed.
- Conduct regular site inspections to uphold quality control standards and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Read blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to verify work aligns with design specifications.
- Manage project documentation including change orders, RFIs (Requests for Information), and daily reports.
- Take part in budgeting processes related to labor, materials, and equipment; track costs diligently.
- Implement safety programs and conduct toolbox talks to promote a safe working environment for all personnel.
- Review and interpret construction contracts to ensure scope compliance; address issues proactively with stakeholders.
- Utilize construction site experience combined with management skills to supervise teams effectively and resolve on-site challenges promptly.
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction management with a strong background in supervising projects.
- Security background check will be required and must pass various requirements.
- Extensive knowledge of construction site operations, safety standards (OSHA), and quality control procedures.
- Experience in construction management software such as ProCore andBluebeam.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately.
- Some hands on work will be required such as final cleanup, moving materials, setting up barriers and signage, other nominal hands on duties.
- Strong management skills with demonstrated success supervising teams and managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
- Valid OSHA certification.
- Knowledge of contracts management processes and experience working within the framework of project schedules including critical path method (CPM).
