Job Title: Quality Engineer
Job Description
The Quality Engineer supports all quality assurance functions and supervises quality assurance personnel to ensure robust quality practices across the plant. This role leads corrective action activities with customers, internal teams, and suppliers, participates in continuous improvement and Six Sigma projects, and plays a key role in revamping and establishing quality standards and systems from the ground up. The position also oversees internal quality system audits, customer PPAP submissions, measurement system analysis, and calibration management.
Responsibilities

Serve as the primary customer quality liaison for all quality complaints, rejects, and nonconforming material, including responding as the main contact for nonconforming material (NCMs) and corrective actions (CARs).

Act as the primary auditor for internal quality audits in accordance with IATF16949, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 requirements.

Facilitate, recommend, and implement effective corrective actions by working directly with customers, plant personnel, and suppliers.

Prepare and write formal corrective action report (CAR) responses to customers as needed.

Maintain customer quality certifications as required, ensuring ongoing compliance with customer and industry standards.

Review and disposition nonconforming material, including authorizing disposition of customer product through the Material Review and Authorization (MRA) process.

Participate in Six Sigma projects, the Plant Quality Board, and other engineering and production taskforces to drive continuous improvement and problem-solving initiatives.

Train quality personnel on appropriate tests, measurements, and quality control methods to ensure accurate and consistent inspection practices.

Complete customer-requested Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions on time, ensuring all documentation and data meet customer requirements.

Interpret customer engineering drawings and specifications, including performing unit conversions as needed to support accurate measurements and reporting.

Assist and train team members on product, die, and template measurements using both manual check fixtures and coordinate measuring machine (CMM) techniques.

Support the creation, revamping, and implementation of plant-wide quality practices, standards, and procedures to strengthen the overall quality management system.

Contribute to ongoing quality assurance and quality control activities to ensure products meet internal and customer specifications.

Supervise and support quality assurance personnel in daily activities, fostering a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous learning.
Essential Skills
-
Proven experience in quality engineering and quality assurance within a manufacturing or production environment.

Strong experience in quality control, root cause analysis, and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

Hands-on experience with PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) and APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning).

Practical knowledge of supplier quality management and working with suppliers to resolve quality issues.

Experience conducting internal audits to IATF16949, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 standards.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications and perform accurate unit conversions.

Competence in measurement system analysis (MSA), including GR&R (Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility) studies.

Ability to maintain and oversee a plant calibration system for measurement equipment.

Strong communication skills for acting as a customer liaison and preparing formal corrective action responses.

Ability to train and guide quality personnel on testing and measurement techniques.

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in engineering, quality, or a related technical discipline.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience participating in Six Sigma projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

Knowledge of quality management systems and practices aligned with ISO 9001 and IATF16949.

Familiarity with quality management tools and methodologies used in automotive or similar industries.

Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, production, and supplier teams to resolve complex quality issues.

Interest in building and revamping quality practices and standards in an evolving quality department.

Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects, audits, and customer requests simultaneously.

Capability to use manual measurement tools, check fixtures, and CMM equipment for product and tooling inspection.

Motivation to learn and grow in a role that offers broad exposure to quality systems, project management, and customer interaction.
Work Environment
This role operates in both floor and office environments, offering exposure to manufacturing operations as well as office-based analysis and documentation. You will spend time on the production floor working with quality and production teams on inspections, measurements, and problem-solving, and in an office setting performing audits, preparing reports, and communicating with customers and suppliers. The position provides a strong opportunity to learn from the ground up in an understaffed quality department that is actively revamping and creating new quality practices. You will be immersed in a wide range of quality activities, manage projects, and help establish and start up new quality standards and processes.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $40.00/hr.
