About the Position
We are seeking a passionate, dependable, and dedicated Early Childhood Teacher Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will create a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment where young children can learn, grow, and thrive.
Our center is open Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM. Candidates must be flexible and available to work any assigned shift within those operating hours.
This position plays a vital role in supporting children’s emotional, social, physical, and cognitive development through play-based learning and positive interactions.
Responsibilities
- Implement age-appropriate lesson plans that promote language, motor, and social-emotional development
- Provide active supervision to ensure children’s safety at all times
- Engage children in hands-on, play-based learning activities
- Provide individualized support based on each child’s needs and interests
- Maintain open, professional communication with families
- Follow all Washington State licensing, health, and safety regulations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment
- Collaborate with team members to provide consistent, high-quality care
Qualifications
- Understanding of child development principles and early learning practices
- Experience working with young children in a licensed childcare setting preferred
- Ability to provide nurturing care while maintaining appropriate boundaries
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential
- Must be dependable and able to work assigned shifts between 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM
Licensing & Pre-Employment Requirements (Washington State)
All requirements must be completed and verified prior to the employee’s first day working with children. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of all licensing and health requirements.
- Must pass Washington State DCYF background check and fingerprint clearance
- Must be cleared in MERIT prior to working unsupervised
- Must complete TB risk assessment and provide documentation of clearance
- Must hold current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification
- Must complete Washington State 30-hour Child Care Basics training (or provide proof of completion)
- Must complete DCYF trainings prior to start date
- Must obtain a Washington State Food Worker Card
- Must provide verification of education, credentials, and/or STARS training hours as required by DCYF
- Must meet all DCYF licensing qualifications for assigned classroom
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Ability to sit on the floor, bend, kneel, and actively supervise children throughout the day
