Quality Engineer Position Summary Intercomp is seeking a qualified Quality Engineer to maintain and improve the Quality Management System (QMS), ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and industry requirements, support quality assurance activities, and drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the organization. This role serves as the company's primary Quality resource and works closely with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, and Customer Service to promote a culture of quality, compliance, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities Quality Management System (QMS) Maintain and continuously improve the Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9001 requirements. Lead internal audit programs and coordinate external audits. Support Management Review activities and quality reporting. Develop, maintain, and improve procedures, forms, and quality documentation. Ensure ongoing compliance with company quality policies, objectives, and standards. Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance Support compliance with UL, CE, ATEX, FM Approvals, Proposition 65, and other applicable regulatory or customer requirements. Support customer audits, certification audits, regulatory reviews, and government source inspections. Coordinate responses and corrective actions resulting from audits and inspections. Corrective Actions, Defective Material Requisitions & Root Cause Analysis Oversee the Corrective Action Request (CAR) and Defective Material Requisition (DMR) processes. Facilitate root cause investigations using structured problem-solving methodologies. Verify effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions. Analyze trends and recurring issues to drive continuous improvement. Customer & Supplier Quality Support customer quality inquiries, audits, complaints, and corrective actions. Participate in supplier quality improvement activities as needed. Assist with resolution of product, process, and customer quality concerns. Contract Review & Risk Assessment Participate in contract reviews requiring quality, inspection, testing, certification, or regulatory assessments. Evaluate quality-related risks associated with customer requirements and special product requirements. Coordinate with Engineering, Sales, Operations, and Supply Chain to ensure requirements are understood and achievable. Inspection Oversight Provide technical oversight and guidance for incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities. Work closely with the Engineering & Quality Technician to ensure inspection activities are performed effectively. Establish acceptance criteria, inspection methods, sampling plans, and quality verification requirements. Support disposition of nonconforming material and quality records. Calibration & Metrology System Oversight Own and maintain the company calibration and measurement control program. Ensure measurement equipment and calibration records remain compliant, accurate, traceable, and audit ready. Maintain oversight of metrology processes to ensure compliance with applicable standards and customer requirements. Continuous Improvement Drive a continuous improvement culture throughout the organization by supporting waste reduction, mistake-proofing, and process improvement initiatives. Identify improvement opportunities through data analysis, audits, customer feedback, and operational observations. Metrics, Reporting & Training Develop and maintain quality KPIs and performance metrics. Report on quality performance and recommendations for leadership. Support development and delivery of quality training programs. Promote quality awareness and best practices across all functions.
Qualifications Required: - Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering (or similar) from an accredited institution - 5+ years of quality engineering, quality assurance, or quality systems experience in a manufacturing environment - (QMS) - - Working knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements and Quality Management Systems Experience leading internal audits and supporting external audits Experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing effective corrective actions - - - Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Proficiency using Microsoft Office and business systems for reporting, analysis, and documentation - Ability to work and collaborate across Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, and Customer Service functions Preferred: - - Owner/administrator of an ISO 9001-certified Quality Management System Customer audits, certification audits, government inspections, and regulatory assessments - - - Government/Military contract review Government source inspection Engineering change reviews and evaluating quality impacts of design or process changes - - - Direct experience leading continuous improvement initiatives Metrology and Calibration systems Experience with ERP systems, document control systems, and electronic quality management systems - Experience in a small-to-medium-sized manufacturing organization where the individual owned multiple aspects of the quality function What We Offer - Competitive salary commensurate with experience and bonuses - - - Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance Retirement savings plan with company matching A dynamic and collaborative work environment where innovation and creativity are encouraged.
