Local, well established, children's fine art program looking for an art teacher to enrich children's lives through art. All supplies and curriculum will be provided.
Job Type: Part-time, 6-month contract
- Work Location: In person, multiple classroom locations, including University Place, Puyallup, Bonney Lake
Schedule: 2 to 3 class sessions per week, approximately 2-3 hours per class session. Classes will begin in late September and follow school calendars.
Potential of teaching additional art lessons and camps as we expand our reach through the Tacoma area.
Job Duties:
- Teach classes of 10-15 students between the ages of 5 and 13. Classes will be divided into age groups of 5-8 year olds and 9-12 year olds
- Facilitate hands-on art lessons with passion. Curriculum and lesson plans are provided!
- Assess students’ progress and provide constructive and positive feedback to enhance their artistic skills.
- Help students develop and expand their artistic abilities by following the curriculum closely.
- Work with a variety of art supplies, including acrylic paint, oil & soft pastels, calligraphy pen and ink, watercolor paints, printmaking, and more!
- Keep the classroom in a clean state, maintain a positive relationship with school staff.
Here are the minimum requirements:
- Must have a bachelor’s degree in visual art or a related field
- A portfolio that shows your artwork (preferably figurative and academic art) must be submitted to be considered. Portfolio must include photos of physical artwork.
- Experience teaching art to children is preferred but not a requirement.
- Must enjoy being around children.
- Reliable Transportation and ability to drive to multiple locations (Bonney Lake, University Place, Puyallup)
- Ability to pass a background check.
Pay:
· $25/hour starting pay for teaching
· $17.13 per hour for lesson plans (1hr/week) and supply pickup (approximately 1hr/month)
