Duties
- Assist in planning and organizing funeral services, including logistics, transportation, and event coordination
- Prepare the deceased through cosmetic application, and other mortuary science procedures while adhering to health and safety standards
- Support families by providing bereavement support, answering questions, and guiding them through the funeral process with compassion and clarity
- Operate company vehicles for transportation of remains and family members safely and efficiently
- Handle heavy lifting during body transfers and setup using proper manual handling techniques to ensure safety for yourself and others
- Maintain sanitation standards within the mortuary environment, ensuring all equipment and workspaces are clean and sterile
- Utilize funeral service technology to manage records, schedules, and client information accurately
- Support cremation procedures in accordance with industry regulations and company protocols
- Assist with event planning for funerals, memorials, or other related ceremonies to ensure smooth execution.
Qualifications
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently under pressure
- Excellent client communication skills with a compassionate approach to bereavement support
- Familiarity with funeral directing processes and event planning within a funeral home setting
- Ability to operate heavy machinery such as company vehicles safely; valid driver’s license required
- Basic understanding of cremation procedures and related regulations
- Physical stamina for manual handling tasks involving heavy lifting; adherence to safety guidelines essential
- Customer service orientation with a professional demeanor at all times
- Proficiency in funeral service technology systems for record keeping and scheduling
- Willing to help the right person obtain an Assistant Funeral Director's License.
