Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and energetic Yard Help to join our dynamic team! In this vital role, you will be responsible for supporting daily operations, including materials handling, inventory management, and equipment operation. Your enthusiasm and attention to safety will help ensure smooth, efficient, and safe yard activities. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in heavy equipment operation while contributing to a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Duties
- Assist with loading and unloading shipments/deliveries using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment
- Operate heavy equipment such as Front End Loaders and mechanical tools following strict safety protocols in accordance with OSHA standards
- Manage inventory by organizing materials within the yard, conducting stock counts, and updating.
- Maintain a clean and organized yard environment by properly stacking pallets, securing loads, and ensuring clear pathways for safe movement
- Support shipping & receiving activities by preparing shipments for dispatch and verifying incoming deliveries against purchase orders
- Follow all safety procedures diligently during heavy lifting, equipment operation, and manual handling tasks to prevent accidents or injuries
Requirements
- Prior experience in warehouse distribution or warehouse operations is highly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, clamp trucks, cranes, and order pickers
- Knowledge of inventory management systems (WMS) and RF scanners is a plus
- Basic math skills for measurements, weight calculations, and inventory counts
- Mechanical knowledge or construction experience is advantageous for understanding heavy equipment functions
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently throughout the shift
- Strong adherence to safety protocols as outlined by OSHA regulations
- Excellent manual handling skills with attention to detail in order picking and shipping/receiving tasks
- Valid certification or training in forklift operation or heavy equipment operation is preferred but not required
