Duties
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen environment in accordance with health regulations and safety standards
- Prepare and cook balanced, appealing meals tailored to children's dietary needs, following approved menus and nutritional guidelines
- Plan weekly menus that incorporate variety, seasonal ingredients, and accommodate dietary restrictions or allergies
- Ensure all food handling procedures adhere to strict food safety standards and sanitation protocols
- Manage food inventory, monitor stock levels, and place orders for supplies as needed to ensure uninterrupted meal service
- Maintain accurate records of food preparation, storage temperatures, and sanitation practices
- Must have CACFP and Safe Serve Certificates.
Experience
- Experience cooking in a childcare center.
- Prior experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide within childcare or healthcare settings is highly desirable
- Proven background in menu planning, food preparation, and cooking
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, proper food handling techniques, and kitchen sanitation standards
- Skilled in meal preparation using various culinary techniques
- Experience working in the food industry or catering services is beneficial for understanding large-scale food service operations
- Familiarity with dietary restrictions common in childcare settings and ability to adapt recipes accordingly
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards
Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school degree or GED, CACFP and Safe Serve Certification.
- Meet federal, as well as individual state requirements (i.e., physical, OSHA) and maintain credentials for the position (i.e., ongoing training).
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a kitchen, preferably in a child care center kitchen.
- Health Screening/TB Test within last 12 months.
- Fingerprinting/Criminal Record Clearance/NSOR/ Child Abuse Index, FBI, and mandated reporter. All clearance must be completed before hiring.
