Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with a focus on autonomous practice and specialized care within an ASAM 2.5 Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) for children and adolescents. In this vital role, you will deliver comprehensive psychiatric services—including assessment, diagnosis, medication management, and treatment planning—while empowering young patients and their families to achieve optimal mental and emotional well‑being.
This position blends independent clinical practice, collaborative care, and hybrid service delivery, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across diverse settings. We are flexible and willing to work with your available hours, and candidates must be credentialed with commercial insurance plans and Medicaid MCOs or be willing to complete credentialing upon hire.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesCore Clinical Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including patient history, mental status exams, and physiological assessments to inform diagnosis and treatment strategies.
- Provide psychiatric services within an ASAM 2.5 PHP level of care for children and adolescents, ensuring adherence to program standards and clinical intensity requirements.
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, monitor patient responses, and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
- Provide psychotherapy sessions utilizing evidence‑based approaches tailored to developmental needs.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care, discharge planning, and follow‑up services across inpatient, outpatient, and partial hospitalization settings.
- Utilize EHR systems to document clinical encounters accurately and efficiently.
- Engage in telehealth consultations to expand access to mental health services
- Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, medication management, and coping strategies to promote recovery and resilience.
ASAM 2.5 PHP Requirements (Children & Adolescents)
- Deliver psychiatric oversight and treatment planning consistent with ASAM 2.5 PHP standards, including structured therapeutic programming and coordinated care.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, treatment reviews, and clinical case discussions specific to PHP-level care.
- Ensure timely evaluation of patients presenting with acute psychiatric symptoms, behavioral dysregulation, or medication‑related concerns.
In‑Person & Hybrid Work Expectations
- Required to be on‑site for the Initial Psychiatric Diagnostic Evaluation for each new PHP patient.
- Required to provide a minimum of 4–6 hours of in‑person care per week, including medication management, crisis assessment, and participation in treatment team meetings.
- Weekly hours may range up to 20 hours per week on a as need basis. Remaining hours outside of required minimum in person care are eligible for virtual/telehealth service delivery depending on clinical needs.
- Virtual Availability when not physically on‑site, to assess any patient exhibiting:
- Signs of withdrawal
- Adverse reactions to medication
- Acute changes in mental status
- Safety concerns requiring immediate psychiatric input
Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience working with diverse populations, including children, adolescents, geriatrics, and individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs.
- Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology, including medication administration and management of complex psychiatric cases.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems
- Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, mental status exams, and physiological evaluations.
- Skilled in crisis intervention techniques, including triage and acute stabilization.
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations, including HIPAA compliance, and state mental health regulations
- Knowledge of ASAM criteria, substance use considerations, and co‑occurring disorders
- Must be credentialed with commercial insurance plans and Medicaid MCOs, or willing to complete credentialing as a condition of employment.
- Must be able to perform work independently without direct supervision and demonstrate strong clinical autonomy.
