We are opening a new location in Mount Zion, Illinois, and are looking for a strong Store Manager to help lead the team, drive store performance, support compliance, and create a positive experience for both customers and employees.
Position Summary
The Store Manager is responsible for leading daily store operations, supporting staff development, maintaining compliance, driving sales performance, and ensuring that every customer receives a high quality experience.
This role works closely with upper management, administration, floor staff, vendors, compliance partners, law enforcement when needed, and customers. The Store Manager acts as the glue that keeps the store operating as a cohesive, productive, positive, and compliant unit.
The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, calm under pressure, comfortable leading teams, and able to balance customer service, compliance, inventory, employee performance, and sales goals.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and train staff to efficiently handle sales while providing superior customer service
- Delegate responsibilities to floor staff and ensure daily tasks are completed effectively
- Lead by example while cultivating a productive, positive, and safe work environment
- Monitor team performance and support a culture of accountability, teamwork, and ownership
- Conduct regular performance reviews for budtenders, supervisors, and support staff
- Recognize strong performance and issue corrective action or disciplinary documentation when needed
- Build schedules based on business trends, staff reliability, and high volume retail needs
- Maintain a working knowledge of every position in the store in order to train, support, and make sound operational decisions
- Oversee hiring and onboarding of new employees with support from Human Resources and the Director of Retail
- Communicate policy updates, sales goals, promotions, product launches, and operational changes to the team
- Work directly with customers to resolve service issues, product concerns, transaction questions, or other store related needs
- Communicate with HR regarding payroll, employee documentation, disciplinary records, and other employee relations matters
- Partner with the Assistant Store Manager to ensure consistency across the management team
- Communicate with upper management and administrative teams regarding quality, risk, staffing, sales, compliance, and store performance
- Communicate professionally with vendors, compliance officers, and law enforcement when needed
- Ensure employees have the tools, training, and information needed to complete sales efficiently and compliantly
- Process, monitor, and support inventory operations, including receiving, labeling, tracking, and product organization
- Regularly check expiration dates, packaging integrity, product quality, and inventory accuracy
- Develop strategies for product movement, merchandising, and placement
- Work with purchasing and leadership teams to monitor sales trends and support store sales goals
- Support marketing ideas, promotional opportunities, and staff feedback to help increase sales performance
- Stay current on product knowledge, compliance updates, internal procedures, and cannabis industry changes
- Ensure all business activity is conducted within company policy and state compliance requirements
- Maintain strong working knowledge of METRC and support the accurate tracking, transfer, and sale of THC and THC infused products
- Promote company goals, new ideas, and operational improvements in a positive and productive way
Qualifications and Requirements
- Must be able to obtain a state required cannabis Agent ID and pass all required background checks where applicable
- Prior retail management experience preferred
- Cannabis industry experience preferred, but not required
- Prior employee relations and customer management experience preferred
- Must be comfortable leading teams in a fast paced retail environment
- Must be able to navigate a Windows operating system
- Must be able to use basic Microsoft Office programs
- Must be able to navigate web based applications, menus, and retail systems
- Must have experience handling, processing, counting, and preparing cash deposits
- Must be able to learn and use the company POS system
- Must be dependable, organized, professional, and able to communicate clearly
- Must be available to work a flexible retail schedule, including weekends, holidays, and peak business periods

This person should be comfortable balancing people leadership, sales, inventory, compliance, scheduling, and daily operations while helping open and grow a new Key Cannabis location.
