Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients and assist with meal assembly according to established recipes and menu standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, including dishwashing duties to ensure sanitation compliance
- Support kitchen staff with food preparation tasks such as chopping, slicing, and portioning ingredients using proper knife skills
- Handle food safely by following proper food handling procedures and adhering to safety regulations
- Assist with menu planning by preparing ingredients for upcoming service periods and catering events
- Ensure timely delivery of dishes by coordinating with the kitchen team during busy service hours
- Contribute to a positive team environment by supporting colleagues and maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation
Experience
- Previous experience in a restaurant or food service environment is preferred but not required; enthusiasm for learning is highly valued
- Familiarity with dietary department or dietary aide experience is a plus, especially in settings emphasizing meal planning and special dietary needs
- Knowledge of food safety practices, including proper food handling and sanitation procedures
- Basic culinary experience such as cooking techniques, meal preparation, and knife skills
- Experience in catering or serving can enhance your ability to support diverse dining occasions
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen setting
