Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mill Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working and operating wood milling machinery, preparing raw materials, and producing finished wood products. This is a hands-on position requiring precision, efficiency, and a commitment to quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain woodworking machinery, including Weinig moulder, saws, planers, jointers, sanders.
- Mill reclaimed wood into specified dimensions and finishes, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Inspect and sort raw materials for defects or inconsistencies.
- Read and interpret work orders to meet project specifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues as they arise.
- Follow safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment.
- Perform regular maintenance and cleaning of tools and machinery.
- Work collaboratively with other team members to meet production deadlines.
- Maintain a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail in all tasks.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience working in a wood mill
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining woodworking machinery.
- Knowledge of woodworking techniques, lumber types, and reclaimed wood characteristics.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Understanding of workplace safety procedures.
- Forklift certification is a plus but not required.
