ILA is seeking an Area Coordinator reporting to the Assistant to the Chief operating Officer. The candidate will be supervising the overall provision of services to Individuals residing in Agency IRA (Individualized Residential Alternatives) programs for which she/he is responsible. Responsibilities include but are not limited to provide assistance and direction to the Residence Supervisors in the areas of programming, staffing, budgeting, regulatory compliance and other administrative functions. Establish positive relationships with outside service providers and/or community resources which provide services to Individuals living in the IRA’s; and also with the Individual’s parent, guardian, advocate or correspondent.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures the implementation of Agency policies and procedures; assists in the development and/or revisions of Agency policies and procedures.
- Ensures the provision of active treatment in the IRAs through review of Individuals’ program plans, including but not limited to Individualized Service Plan (ISPs), Individualized Plan of Protections (IPOPs), Residential/Day Habilitation Plans, Community Inclusion Plans, Self-preservation skills and Personal Expenditure Plan and ensures these activities are carried out in accordance with regulatory compliance and Agency policies and procedures through morning, evening and overnight observations.
- Establishes and maintains positive relationships with outside service providers and/or community resources which provide services to Individuals living in the IRA’s; and also with the Individual’s parent, guardian, advocate or correspondent.
- Communicates with the Human Resources Department regarding hiring, suspension, transfer, and/or termination of staff; with the Agency Labor Attorney for personnel issues; and with the Union regarding staff grievances while adhering to the Collective Bargaining Agreement; and reviews all disciplinary actions.
- Communicates with the Purchasing Department to ensure appropriate and adequate supplies and equipment are in the residences to meet the needs of the Individuals; reviews and approves Purchase Orders (PO) submitted by supervisory staff.
- Interfaces with the Accounting Department regarding budgetary issues and expenditures; and reviews the Individuals’ personal allowances for compliance; ensures expenditures reflect Individuals’ needs, preferences and desires; and reviews petty cash to ensure expenditures are in regulatory compliance and Agency policy and procedures.
- Communicates with the Building Management Department to ensure a safe physical environment which is conducive to the comfort of Individuals residing in the IRAs; reviews Emergency Evacuation procedures and fire drills to ensure safety for all Individuals and staff.
- Communicates with the Quality Assurance Department (Director of Quality Assurance, QA Specialist, Corporate Compliance Specialist and Incident Management Coordinator) to ensure the programs adhere to regulatory compliance; participates in the incident reporting and investigative procedures; attends Incident Review Committee (IRC) and Consumer Safety Committee as needed; and ensures all recommendations are addressed or appropriate correctives measures are implemented.
- Interfaces with the Nursing and Psychology Departments to ensure coordination of services for the Individuals.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a Human Service field required, Master’s Degree preferred.
- Three years’ experience in a human service field, at least two of which must have been in the field of residential services for Individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Two year’s of supervisory experience required.
- Valid Driver’s license.
