Major Responsibility Areas (MRA's):
Mechanical Engineer/Designer Responsibilities
- Ensure assigned projects are completed on schedule and in accordance with project timelines.
- Actively maintain project management and task tracking systems for assigned work and deliverables.
- Support development and improvement of manufacturing, assembly, and documentation procedures.
- Participate in the design and integration of mechanical and electromechanical systems, including industrial controls, equipment layouts, panels, and related hardware.
- Collaborate with electrical and controls engineers on projects involving PLCs, HMIs, networking, and control systems.
- Promote engineering and drafting standards to improve consistency, manufacturability, and efficiency across product lines.
- Create and maintain 2D drawings and schematics using AutoCAD.
- Develop 3D models, assemblies, and equipment designs using SolidWorks.
- Maintain regular communication with the Engineering Manager throughout all phases of a project.
- Assist with equipment and system designs intended for industrial and hazardous environments (training provided as needed).
- Work closely with vendors to specify components and identify suitable replacements for obsolete parts.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, lessons learned reviews, and resolution of field or manufacturing issues.
- Coordinate with Purchasing to ensure Bills of Materials are accurate and components are ordered in a timely manner.
- Support and mentor junior designers and engineers as needed.
- Assist Operations with project planning, equipment coordination, and logistics.
- Communicate with field personnel to support installations, troubleshooting, and successful project execution.
- Support development and organization of part numbers, engineering documentation, processes, and standard practices.
Profitability
- Ensure all design follow a prescribed budget that ensure project profitability.
- Accurately record all time worked daily using the daily timesheet and time keeping procedures.
Quality
- Report all service, equipment and tool issues to base management using a Non-Conformance Report. (NCR)
- Report design changes through Braeden ECR process and follow up where needed

- Demonstrate the ability to properly and in a timely manner, complete all administrative requirements. (FSO's. Timesheets, Expense Reports, Etc.)
Safety
- Ensure Braeden and Customers safety programs to reach the annual goal of zero safety incidents.
- Become an advocate for a safe work environment and participate actively in safety meetings.
- Wear all required safety PPE while working on a customer's location or in at Braeden facility.
- Prior to any job commencing, assure that all JSA's are completed and documented per BRAEDEN and/or customer requirements.
- Follow all BRAEDEN and customer required safety procedures during installations on location or at the shop.
Education:
- B.S. Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology (Required)
Experience:
- Electrical equipment in explosive environments, hazloc: 1 year (Preferred)
- AutoCAD: 5 years (Required)
- Drafting: 5 years (Preferred)
- Electrical Systems: 5 years (Preferred)
- Control Systems: 5 years (Preferred)
- Inventor/SolidWorks: 5 years (Required)
- Worked with CAD in the last 2 years (Required)
