Job Title: Cook- in kitchen at 32 bed residential care facility
Supervisor: Dietary Manager
Job Summary: The Cook is responsible for the preparation and service of nutritious meals, washing dishes and cleaning kitchen.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
2. Ability to read, write, speak and follow written and oral directions in English.
3. Must be willing to be flexible to work as needed.
4. Must be able to do any combination of the following activities for two hours without a break: stand, sit, walk and/or run as required by resident behavior; bend and twist; lift and move objects in excess of 50 lbs.; must be able to lift/transfer dependent residents; must be able to perform repetitive motions with hands and arms.
5. Experience in operating kitchen equipment: commercial steamer, convection oven, standard gas or electric range and grill, meat slicer, mixer/ grinder, commercial dishwasher, cooking utensils.
6. Must be able to endure the stress of working around physically and mentally disabled residents who can be aggressive, demanding and are often very noisy. Must remain patient and calm in the presence of residents at all times.
7. Must be able to pass a criminal record check as required by Oregon RCF Regulations
8. Must be able to work cooperatively with all staff including JCMH on site staff.
9. Must demonstrate ability to follow individualized plans of care and accompanying behavior plans.

WORKING CONDITIONS
É Works indoors on linoleum/ carpeted floor, adequate lighting and ventilation. Potential risk for falling residents, aggressive residents, heavy lifting, etc. Works daily with a variety of staff, residents, and families.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Must be able to be at work, on time, as regularly scheduled, without excessive absences.
2. Must be able to work independently without close supervision.
3. Must maintain sanitary environment in dietary department that meets or exceeds RCF regulation.
4. Must demonstrate ability to follow all aspects of infection control, safe food handling practices and safe handling of hazardous chemicals.
5. Be able to handle complaints graciously.
6. Be able to take direction.
7. Prepares and serves meals according to work schedule.
8. Notes menu changes, lists substitutes and makes menu suggestions on form if food dietary manager is absent.
9. Supervises the proper storage and labeling of all usable leftovers.
10. Maintains cleanliness of both the kitchen and dining room areas.
11. May assist in the orientation and training of new staff.
12. Stocks shelves with delivered food and supplies.
13. Maintain resident and guest relations through courteous, cooperative and understanding manners.
14. Assist in the check for resident absentees at each meal.
15. Provide safe, healthful, comfortable, and clean accommodations.
16. Assists residents with food selections and helps load trays; carries trays to tables, and/or serve in dining room.
17. Ensures all pantry items are stocked.
18. Clean up dining room.
19. Mop kitchen floors.
20. Operate the commercial dishwasher.
21. Wash pots and pans.
22. Clean sinks and deck areas.
23. Perform other duties as assigned.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
