General Manager I – Starbucks
Position Summary
The General Manager I is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Starbucks store operations, ensuring exceptional customer experience, operational excellence, partner development, and financial performance. This role leads and develops store partners while maintaining Starbucks brand standards and creating a welcoming environment for customers and employees alike. General Manager I serves as a hands-on leader who drives results through coaching, accountability, and a commitment to the Starbucks mission and values.
Essential Responsibilities
Store Leadership
- Lead the daily operations of a Starbucks café, ensuring adherence to Starbucks standards and procedures.
- Build a positive, customer-focused culture that reflects the Starbucks mission and values.
- Foster an inclusive work environment that supports partner engagement and retention.
- Act as a role model for professionalism, customer service, and operational excellence.
Team Development
- Recruit, hire, train, and develop Starbucks partners and shift supervisors.
- Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance management.
- Create development plans to support partner growth and advancement.
- Ensure all partners complete required training and maintain operational knowledge.
Customer Experience
- Deliver and uphold the Starbucks Experience through exceptional customer service.
- Respond to customer concerns and resolve issues promptly and professionally.
- Build strong relationships with customers and community stakeholders.
- Ensure beverage quality, food safety, and service standards consistently exceed expectations.
Operational Excellence
- Manage labor, scheduling, inventory, ordering, and store maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with Starbucks operational standards, food safety requirements, and company policies.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized store environment.
- Monitor operational metrics and implement improvement action plans as needed.
Financial Management
- Drive sales growth and profitability.
- Manage store budgets, labor costs, inventory controls, and waste reduction initiatives.
- Review and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to achieve business objectives.
- Execute strategies to improve operational and financial performance.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2–4 years of Starbucks leadership experience required.
- Previous experience as a Starbucks Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager, or equivalent leadership role preferred.
- Strong understanding of Starbucks operations, standards, and customer service culture.
- Experience managing teams in a fast-paced retail, restaurant, or hospitality environment.
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop employees.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and business reporting tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
- Multi-department leadership experience.
- Demonstrated success achieving sales, labor, and profitability goals.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

Required Experience: Starbucks leadership experience is required, with a demonstrated track record of driving operational excellence, developing partners, and achieving business results in a Starbucks environment.
