Description
Reporting to the Chair, Department of Science Education, the Anatomist contributes to the design, implementation, assessment, and continual improvement of the Structure curricular component (which includes anatomy, embryology, histology, pathology, and medical imaging). This faculty member also participates in medical education scholarship with both structure and ultrasound related research initiatives. This position is at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Actively participates in planning weekly Structure sessions for the MS1 and MS2 curriculum.
- Contributes to the development and refinement of lab guides and student curricular material (e.g., pre-work, review session content, etc.)
- Participates in teaching and administrative responsibilities to ensure the successful execution of the Structure curriculum.
- Contributes to the development of formative and summative assessments and assists in grading summative assessments and student presentations.
- Develops and participates in 3rd-year Structure lab sessions as needed.
- Together with other Structure faculty, engages in Structure continuous quality improvement (CQI) efforts.
- Contributes to the development of long- and short-term goals to ensure continued progress of the Structure curricular component.
- Helps select and prepare prosecutions and other laboratory specimens for use during lab sessions.
- Assists with the recruitment of clinical and full-time faculty and their faculty development.
- Provides back-up support to facilitate PEARLS small-group, case-based curriculum.
- Engages in research in the areas of anatomical sciences and medical education and disseminates novel teaching methodologies and curricular innovations.
- Represents the Zucker School of Medicine at regional, academic conferences on anatomical sciences and medical education.
