What We're Looking For
We're hiring a Senior Full-Stack Product Engineer Consultant to build internal tools, operational dashboards, APIs and analytics-enabled product capabilities for a healthcare technology modernization program. This is a remote, Corp-to-Corp 1099 engagement for a senior independent consultant who can own outcomes across Java/Spring services, Postgres data and a modern Next.js/TypeScript front end.
This is an AI-forward delivery role. You should already use coding agents such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, Cursor, or equivalent tools every day to accelerate implementation while maintaining strong architectural judgment and testing discipline. Security and human review still matter.
Key Requirements
- 10+ Years of Full-Stack Product Engineering
- Production experience building and operating business-critical applications and internal tools.
- Strong architectural judgment across service boundaries, data models, front-end state, security, failure modes, and operational support.
- Java, Spring Boot, and API Engineering
- Advanced Java and Spring Boot experience.
- REST API design, versioning, validation, error handling and observability, backed by integration testing.
- Practical authentication and authorization implementation using Spring Security or comparable patterns.
- Postgres and Data-Backed Applications
- Relational data modeling, query design and migrations, along with indexing and performance tuning.
- Ability to translate operational and analytics requirements into maintainable application data models.
- Next.js and TypeScript
- Production experience with Next.js, React and TypeScript.
- Strong internal-tool UX instincts: clear workflows, useful defaults, safe actions, accessible interfaces, and actionable error states.
- AI-Forward Delivery (Required)
- Daily use of Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or equivalent coding agents.
- Context and instruction design that turns business goals into well-scoped implementation work.
- Critical review of agent-generated code, with automated tests, security checks, and human-in-the-loop release discipline.
- Ability to create reusable agent instructions, skills, or repository context that improves team delivery over time.
- Healthcare and Security Awareness (Preferred)
- Experience with healthcare, pharmacy, HIPAA, PHI, or similarly regulated systems.
- Sound practices for auditability, secrets, least privilege, data minimization, and sensitive-data handling.
- Consulting Posture and High EQ
- Excellent client-facing communication and requirements discovery.
- Comfortable working with technical and operational stakeholders, explaining tradeoffs clearly, and challenging weak assumptions constructively.
- Self-directed and accountable; able to move ambiguous work toward a concrete outcome without hand-holding.
- Business Structure
- Must have an active LLC or S-Corp.
- 1099 Corp-to-Corp only. No W-2.
- Two or more years operating an independent consulting company is strongly preferred.
What You'll Do
- Build and improve internal administrative tools and operational dashboards.
- Design and implement Java/Spring Boot services and well-structured REST APIs.
- Build responsive, maintainable Next.js/TypeScript user experiences for internal users.
- Model and optimize Postgres-backed workflows, reporting and analytics collection.
- Implement authentication and authorization with auditability and safe administrative actions.
- Use AI coding agents to decompose and build production work efficiently, then test, review and document it.
- Collaborate with client stakeholders and senior consultants to deliver measurable improvements.
Preferred Tech and Tooling
- Java, Spring Boot, Spring Security, Maven or Gradle
- Postgres, SQL migrations, query tuning, data modeling
- Next.js, React, TypeScript, modern component and testing libraries
- REST APIs, OpenAPI, OAuth 2.0/OIDC, role- and permission-based authorization
- AWS or Azure cloud services, containers, CI/CD, infrastructure as code
- OpenTelemetry, application logging and metrics, tracing and production diagnostics
- Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar agentic development tools
