Position Summary:
The Area Director of Residence Life is responsible for the management and daily operations of a multi-facility area housing 800-1000 residents and supervising 20-30 student staff members including Senior Resident Assistants, Resident Assistants, Community Manager and a Community Director. The Area Director will focus on community and leadership development, staff selection and training, crisis intervention, student conduct, and the coordination of facilities operations, in addition to participating in an on-call duty rotation. This is a 12 month live in professional position and includes a furnished apartment.
Other responsibilities include:
- Works with colleagues in Residence Life to design, facilitate, and evaluate training sessions, workshops, and in-service programs for student staff and Community Councils advisors and officers.
- Maintains accurate departmental records, including but not limited to Community Council budgets, check-ins and check-outs, conduct and care, and facilities concerns.
- Assumes an active and visible role in the ongoing development of individual residents to support their maximum academic and personal success.
- Initiates educational and student conduct actions as required; working closely with Student Accountability & Restorative Practices to ensure a supportive and collaborative approach utilizing restorative practices.
- Monitors assigned facilities year-round, including the opening and closing of buildings, during summer (regardless of building use) and advise supervisors of conditions, issues, or changes and make recommendations for improvements to facilities.
