Sol Computers is launching a technology education program for assisted living facilities, senior communities, and senior centers throughout Monmouth County.
We are seeking a patient, friendly, and dependable instructor to teach older adults how to use smartphones, tablets, laptops, and computers. This is a part-time position with the potential to grow as additional facilities are added to the program.
Responsibilities
- Teach small-group technology classes at senior living facilities
- Help residents use smartphones, tablets, laptops, and computers
- Explain technology slowly, clearly, and patiently
- Teach texting, email, video calls, photos, internet use, and useful applications
- Educate residents about online scams, suspicious messages, and password safety
- Provide limited individual assistance during classes
- Follow prepared lesson plans and training materials
- Record attendance and complete a brief report after each class
- Communicate professionally with facility staff
- Travel to facilities throughout Monmouth County and surrounding areas
Qualifications
- Strong working knowledge of smartphones, tablets, Windows computers, email, and common applications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Patient and comfortable working with older adults
- Able to explain technical subjects in simple, easy-to-understand language
- Reliable, organized, and professional
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
- Available during weekday mornings and afternoons
Teaching, training, customer service, senior care, or technology support experience is helpful but not required.
This position will begin with a limited number of classes and expand as additional facilities join the program. Most classes will be scheduled during weekday mornings and afternoons. Candidates should have some flexibility in their availability.
Qualified applicants will be invited to a telephone screening and an in-person interview. Candidates may be asked to demonstrate how they would explain a basic smartphone feature to an older adult.
