FORM Hand Therapy is seeking a motivated and dependable Rehabilitation / Occupational Therapy Aide to join our team. This position assists our licensed occupational and hand therapists in delivering high-quality patient care while helping maintain an organized, efficient, and welcoming clinic environment.
This position is ideal for recent graduates or students taking a gap year who are pursuing careers in Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant studies, Medicine, Nursing, Athletic Training, Kinesiology, or other healthcare professions. It also provides an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to build a long-term career in rehabilitation or outpatient healthcare.
Primary Responsibilities
Patient Care Support
- Assist licensed therapists with patient flow and treatment preparation.
- Prepare treatment areas, equipment, and therapy materials before and after patient appointments.
- Assist with patient care activities under the direct supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist and/or Certified Hand Therapist, consistent with state regulations and clinic policies.
- Escort patients to and from treatment areas as needed.
- Prepare therapeutic exercise equipment and treatment supplies.
- Observe patients during treatment and promptly communicate concerns to the supervising therapist.
Clinic Operations
- Clean and disinfect treatment areas and equipment between patients.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and professional treatment environment.
- Restock treatment supplies and assist with inventory management.
- Notify supervisors when supplies require replenishment.
- Assist with clinic opening and closing procedures.
Administrative Support
- Provide front office support as needed, including:
- Greeting patients
- Answering phones
- Scheduling appointments
- Checking patients in and out
- Scanning or filing documents
- Other administrative duties as assigned
Team Collaboration
- Communicate professionally with patients, therapists, physicians, and fellow staff members.
- Participate in staff meetings, educational opportunities, and in-service training.
- Support a collaborative, patient-centered clinic culture.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support clinic operations.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Dependable, punctual, and committed to providing exceptional patient care.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and professionalism.
- Availability to work weekday clinic hours (Monday–Friday).
Preferred
- Previous experience as a rehabilitation aide or in a healthcare setting is preferred but not required.
- Coursework in anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, exercise science, occupational therapy, physical therapy, or a related field is preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or willingness to obtain after hire).
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift, carry, or move up to 25 pounds.
- Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, and repetitive hand use.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to prepare treatment equipment and materials.
