Join our dynamic team as a CDL A Intermodal & Flatbed Local Driver, where you'll play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of freight within local routes. As a key player in our logistics operation, you’ll operate tractor-trailers, including flatbeds and container trailers, to move freight seamlessly between terminals, warehouses, and delivery points. Duties
- Safely operate CDL A tractor-trailers, including flatbeds, tankers, and container trailers, within local and regional intermodal and flatbed routes.
- Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques, ensuring cargo is secured according to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations.
- Navigate efficiently using GPS systems to optimize delivery routes while maintaining compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
- Transport hazardous materials and dangerous goods following hazardous materials regulations and safety protocols when required.
- Handle automobile transportation tasks, including securing vehicles on flatbeds or specialized carriers for delivery or transfer.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections, maintenance checks, and report any mechanical issues promptly to ensure vehicle safety and compliance.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, and cargo documentation in accordance with FMCSA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery schedules, or any unforeseen delays.
- Load and unload freight at various locations, ensuring proper handling of logistics cargo while adhering to safety standards.
- Follow all DOT regulations during driving operations to promote safety on the road and prevent violations or accidents.
Experience
- Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record; experience operating tractor-trailers including flatbeds, tankers, or refrigerated trailers preferred.
- Proven delivery driver experience with knowledge of route driving within local or regional areas.
- Familiarity with manual transmission trucks and manual handling techniques for cargo management.
- Experience in logistics cargo handling and truck loading/unloading processes.
- Knowledge of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) standards, and hazardous materials regulations is highly desirable.
- Prior experience transporting freight that requires adherence to safety protocols for dangerous goods or hazardous materials is a plus.
- Ability to operate GPS navigation systems efficiently for route planning and real-time adjustments.
- Strong understanding of commercial truck driving best practices combined with excellent safety awareness.
