Job Summary
We are seeking a detailed-oriented houseman (i.e. janitor, custodian or porter) to join our operations team at our boutique hotel in Midtown Manhattan. This role combines cleaning and maintenance duties with guest support. The ideal candidate is a pro-active team player with a can-do attitude, capable of ensuring a safe and well-functioning environment for both guests and staff.
Responsibilities
- Cleaning common areas, back-of-house areas, and the building's exterior.
- Transporting linens, laundry, garbage, deliveries and luggage.
- Assisting with guest requests, such as delivering fresh towels to guest rooms.
- Provide a light-security presence.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify and resolve issues.
Qualifications
- Experience with hotel maintenance, janitorial work, or facilities support.
- Ability to lift heavy items, and to bend, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work various shifts as needed (days, evenings, overnights, weekdays, and weekends).
- Familiarity with hotel operations and guest service.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Confident and comfortable under pressure.
- Certification as a Fire Guard or Fire Life Safety Director a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
