Role Overview
BEPC is seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Technician to support manufacturing operations at our client's Portland-area facility. This hands-on technical role is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and modifying production and assembly equipment to maximize equipment reliability and manufacturing uptime.
The ideal candidate brings strong electromechanical troubleshooting skills, experience supporting production equipment, and the ability to independently solve complex technical problems. This position will also collaborate closely with manufacturing, industrial, quality, and equipment development engineers while providing guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to production and assembly line equipment issues, diagnose equipment problems, and perform necessary repairs to minimize downtime.
- Perform preventive maintenance, equipment modifications, qualifications, and upgrades on manufacturing equipment.
- Document equipment repairs, preventive maintenance activities, upgrades, and parts usage in the MP2 maintenance database.
- Maintain backup equipment and ensure critical spare parts are available at appropriate inventory levels.
- Support industrial, manufacturing, and quality engineers with equipment operation and troubleshooting.
- Provide equipment development engineers with feedback on recurring equipment issues and recommendations for improving uptime and reliability.
- Assist with the construction and setup of manufacturing worktables, utilities, equipment, assembly lines, and workstations.
- Modify existing assembly lines and workstations to accommodate changing manufacturing requirements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems using technical manuals, schematic drawings, precision tools, test equipment, and established engineering practices.
- Assist with the evaluation, development, and modification of manufacturing equipment, materials, systems, and processes.
- Support the development and improvement of preventive maintenance plans and testing methods.
- Identify and recommend practical solutions and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Plan and organize non-routine assignments, establish work priorities, and maintain work schedules with appropriate approval.
- Mentor less experienced technicians and provide technical guidance within the work group.
- Perform work in accordance with applicable quality system requirements and regulatory standards.
Qualifications
Required:
- Associate degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
- Minimum of 4 years of related manufacturing equipment or technical maintenance experience.
- Strong experience diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and modifying production or assembly equipment.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, procedures, numerical data, and other technical documentation.
- Experience using precision tools, test equipment, and computer software to troubleshoot and document technical issues.
- Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to work on complex assignments with limited established procedures.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, initiative, creativity, and independence when resolving equipment issues.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to establish priorities and manage non-routine technical assignments.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams.
- Ability to work within a regulated quality system environment.
- License or certification may be required depending on the candidate's area of expertise.
Preferred:
- Previous experience supporting medical device manufacturing.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs and manufacturing equipment qualification.
- Experience using a computerized maintenance management system such as MP2.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to other technicians.
