Commercial HVAC Technician / Building Maintenance Technician
Location: San Fernando, CA

Schedule: Monday–Friday, with occasional overtime or emergency service as needed
Pay: $32–$38 per hour, based on experience
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC Technician / Building Maintenance Technician to service and maintain commercial properties throughout the San Fernando area. This is a field-based position with a company vehicle and tools provided.
The ideal candidate will have strong commercial HVAC troubleshooting and repair experience, along with the ability to perform basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
You will travel between customer locations performing preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance while maintaining a high level of customer service and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on commercial HVAC systems.
- Service and maintain package units, split systems, boilers, compressors, motors, blowers, condensers, evaporators, belts, pulleys, contactors, and control systems.
- Diagnose HVAC mechanical, electrical, and operational problems.
- Troubleshoot airflow, ductwork, controls, and sequence-of-operation issues.
- Perform refrigerant recovery, charging, leak detection, brazing, and other EPA-compliant refrigerant work.
- Perform preventative maintenance on heating and cooling equipment, including burners, heat exchangers, safety controls, and operational controls.
- Perform basic repairs and maintenance on steam and hot-water boiler systems.
- Complete service calls and work orders accurately and efficiently.
- Perform minor electrical repairs, including switches, outlets, fixtures, ballasts, sockets, and lighting components, as permitted by applicable law.
- Perform minor plumbing repairs, including faucets, drains, toilets, and leaks.
- Complete basic carpentry, drywall, painting, and general building repairs.
- Inspect building equipment and assets and document findings.
- Identify larger repair or replacement needs and provide recommendations or estimates.
- Maintain accurate service reports, work orders, photographs, timesheets, and other required documentation using a tablet or smartphone.
- Maintain professional relationships with customers, vendors, and team members.
- Follow all OSHA, EPA, company, and customer safety requirements.
- Travel locally between multiple commercial customer properties throughout the assigned territory.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of HVAC and/or commercial building maintenance experience preferred.
- Strong experience troubleshooting and repairing commercial HVAC systems.
- Experience with package units, split systems, boilers, electrical components, motors, compressors, and HVAC controls.
- EPA Universal Refrigeration Certification required.
- HVAC technical certification, state-approved HVAC license, or equivalent professional experience preferred.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals, safety procedures, and equipment documentation.
- Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, email, and computerized work-order systems.
- Strong communication and customer-service skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize service calls, and manage multiple customer locations.
- Must be able to safely perform physical tasks associated with HVAC and building maintenance.
