JOB SUMMARY
We are searching for a Jewelry Buyer who is an integral part of our Jewelry Buying Office. This position involves a great deal of technical product knowledge and requires strong organizational skills and attention to detail when taking in and handling luxury jewelry. The Jewelry Buyer is a member of the JBO staff who ensures the timely and accurate ordering, receiving, and stocking of assigned vendors. The buyer also assists with the day-to-day operations in the office, such as transfers, tickets, etc.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES
- Partner with owners to manage, buy, and oversee assigned jewelry vendors to include inventory, ROI, special orders, repairs, and the overall communication and relationship. Take a proactive approach in managing inventory levels, evaluating return on investment, and overall analysis of sales trends and store performance.
- Collaborate with other buyers on higher level product category specific product planning to ensure better overall store assortments, based on both look and price point with little overlap from other vendors.
- Handle additional assigned vendors including the processing of special orders and inquiries.
- Communicate special order information to the vendors and our sales associates, providing timely responses to inquiries. Process purchase orders, receiving’s, and stock balancing of assigned vendors which includes monthly updates to management and assigned vendors.
- Create and maintain item records in our inventory system, including all item attributes, pricing, photography, website and appraisal descriptions.
- Processing returns of memo goods and returns for credit. Maintain excellent records for all memo reporting.
- Assisting to improve efficiency and update procedures in the buying office.
- Catalog support: Coordinate the merchandise to be sent to the selection meeting/photography for the Holiday catalog. Working with the buyers to determine the items selected, create SKUs for partner jewelers’ items, and write purchase orders for all non-branded items. Major designers will be ordered by their JBO representatives. Ensure that Marketing has all SKUs for the flip books on the intranet.
- Process Foreign receiving’s, converting invoices to USD where necessary and approving Fed Ex duties and freight charges.
- Assist with daily operations such as opening packages and creating the receiving log. Confirm product shipment with invoice and match up to a PO if one was created.
- Performing any other duties assigned by management
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Excellent computer skills, including use of Excel
- Previous jewelry/watch buying experience is strongly preferred
- Strong understanding jewelry and the ability to quality control
- Knowledge of the retail inventory systems is strongly preferred
- Strong attention to detail and numerical aptitude

- Strong sense of urgency in responding to store and vendor requests.
Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
