Position Summary
The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall appearance of CFX office buildings and facilities. This position performs routine cleaning and custodial duties to ensure a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming environment for employees, visitors, and guests. Responsibilities include cleaning restrooms, offices, common areas, break rooms, entrances, windows, doors, high-touch surfaces, and other assigned areas, as well as restocking supplies and maintaining cleaning inventory. Candidates must be able to work either the Monday-Friday, 12:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m schedule or the Tuesday-Saturday, 7:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, including sinks, counters, toilets, urinals, mirrors, partitions, fixtures, walls, floors, and other surfaces.
- Refill and restock restroom supplies, including paper towels, toilet tissue, soap, air fresheners, and other necessary items.
- Clean and sanitize break rooms, including sinks, countertops, tables, chairs, microwaves, coffee areas, and exterior refrigerator surfaces.
- Empty trash receptacles and replace liners as needed.
- Clean entrance doors, interior glass, adjacent windows, and other glass surfaces as assigned.
- Wipe and sanitize high-touch areas, including door handles, light switches, counters, handrails, and shared surfaces.
- Vacuum carpeted areas and spot clean as needed.
- Sweep, dust mop, and wet mop hard surface floors.
- Dust furniture, chairs, tables, file cabinets, counters, window ledges, door frames, picture frames, blinds, and other surfaces that do not require moving documents or personal items.
- Clean walls, doorjambs, baseboards, and other areas to remove fingerprints, marks, or splatters as needed.
- Maintain clean and orderly reception areas, conference rooms, common areas, hallways, and other assigned spaces.
- Clean and sanitize water fountains and other shared fixtures.
- Pick up trash and debris in areas immediately surrounding assigned buildings, including entrances, sidewalks, and adjacent outdoor areas.
- Monitor cleaning supplies and notify the supervisor when inventory needs to be replenished.
- Maintain janitorial closets, equipment, and supplies in a clean, safe, and organized manner.
- Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, spills, damage, or supply shortages to the supervisor promptly.
- Follow established cleaning procedures, safety practices, and proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Assist with special cleaning projects, event setup/cleanup, deep cleaning, or other facility needs as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of basic cleaning methods, sanitation practices, and custodial procedures.
- Knowledge of proper use, storage, and handling of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment.
- Ability to follow instructions, cleaning schedules, and safety procedures.
- Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks in a timely and thorough manner.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean and professional environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, employees, vendors, and visitors.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism while working in office areas.
- Ability to identify and report maintenance or safety concerns.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain regular attendance.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous housekeeping, custodial, janitorial, or commercial cleaning experience preferred.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies, and equipment preferred.
- Ability to work assigned schedule, including evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.
- Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Work is primarily performed in an office, administrative, or facility environment.
- Position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
- Must be able to perform manual cleaning tasks for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull cleaning supplies, trash bags, and equipment, typically up to 30 pounds.
- May be exposed to cleaning chemicals, dust, restroom environments, and wet floor conditions.
- Must be able to safely use cleaning tools and equipment, including vacuums, mops, brooms, carts, and related supplies.
- May be required to work independently during evening or non-standard business hours.
